205 Live 11/14/17 Review: Cake on Enzo!

on

205 Live on November 14, 2017, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a backstage promo from Kalisto and it was good. Kalisto talked about how it is his birthday and he’s going to celebrate it by beating Drew Gulak. Then, at Survivor Series, he’s going to get back his WWE Cruiserweight Championship from Enzo Amore.

It seems like Kalisto is very happy for his birthday as he has a chance to get some momentum heading into Survivor Series. Let’s see if he will get the title back at Survivor Series. Good backstage promo here.

The backstage segment between Enzo Amore and Drew Gulak was good. Enzo Amore was talking to Drew Gulak that if Kalisto wins the WWE Cruiserweight Championship from him at Survivor Series, The Zo Show is over for him. Enzo Amore then told Drew Gulak to finish Kalisto later on the show where Drew Gulak said he is the man to do it. Enzo Amore then licked the frosting of the cake as Drew Gulak was about to get some, but Enzo Amore prevented him from doing so.

It seems like Enzo Amore and Drew Gulak have some big plans for Kalisto later on the show. We’ll see if they succeed or not. Good backstage segment here.

Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann Vs. The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher was an excellent tornado tag team match. Mark out moment! As The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher were making their way to the ring, a video promo showed up as Gentleman Jack Gallagher said that he’s disappointed that Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann became who they are which they are clowns. The Brian Kendrick then said that bad choices lead to crucial consequences. As Rich Swann made his way to the ring, he introduced Cedric Alexander to the ring as it was in his hometown. Nice to see them get some promo time. Back to the match itself.

The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher were excellent in this match as they tried to prove to Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann are clowns. The running dropkick on Cedric Alexander over the table from Gentleman Jack Gallagher looked devastating.

Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann were excellent in this match as well as they tried to get revenge for what The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher for the past few months. Cedric Alexander hit a beautiful standing moonsault side slam on Gentleman Jack Gallagher. Rich Swann hit a devastating superkick on Gentleman Jack Gallagher and his suicide dive into a Tornado DDT on Gentleman Jack Gallagher was well executed.

There were several points in the match where I thought it was over as The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher almost got the victory over Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann. Gentleman Jack Gallagher hit a running dropkick to the corner on Cedric Alexander followed by the Sliced Bread #2 (Shiranui) on Cedric Alexander from The Brian Kendrick, but Rich Swann made the save to break up the pin. Wow, I thought the match was over there as that was a great combination of moves.

There was another spot in the match where I thought it was over when The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher locked Rich Swann into a Captain’s Hook (Grounded reverse chinlock) from The Brian Kendrick and a Fujiwara armbar from Gentleman Jack Gallagher, I thought Rich Swann was going to tap out, but was saved by Cedric Alexander. There was another spot where The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher did a double super hip toss on Rich Swann, but Rich Swann managed to kick out. Wow, what resilience from Rich Swann there. Excellent work from both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Cedric Alexander hit a Lumbar Check (Belly-to-back suplex into a double knee backbreaker) on The Brian Kendrick for the pin and win for his team. A great win for Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann as it seems like they put an end to the feud between The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher for now. Let’s see where they go from here.

Excellent tornado tag team match and I want to see where all of these four men go from here.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Ariya Daivari was a good match. Ariya Daivari was cutting a promo while making his entrance as he said that The Zo Show is technically over if Kalisto wins back the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Survivor Series. He then said that thanks to Enzo Amore, 205 Live has been more popular and the cruiserweights are getting more benefit from it. Ariya Daivari then said that Kalisto is not going to bring honor to the cruiserweights if he wins the championship as Enzo Amore will bring them more cash.

Ariya Daivari was then speaking in Persian until Mustafa Ali came out and told Ariya Daivari that he will translate what Ariya Daivari is saying to the WWE Universe as he said that Ariya Daivari is eating Enzo Amore’s head so much that it doesn’t taste like birthday cake. Mustafa Ali then told Ariya Daivari that they’re both cruiserweights and they should make 205 Live the best it can be. He then told Ariya Daivari that he looks stupid as the match began to start. Nice to see both men getting some mic time. Anyway, let’s talk about the match.

The way Ariya Daivari pushed Mustafa Ali off the ropes looked painful as heck and his frog splash was well executed. Mustafa Ali hit a nice Tornado DDT on Ariya Daivari. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali hit an inverted 450 splash on Ariya Daivari for the pin and win. A good win for Mustafa Ali as he’s looking to get victories.

Good match and we’ll see if Mustafa Ali Vs. Ariya Daivari will become a feud or not.

The backstage segment between Kalisto and Akira Tozawa was good. Kalisto was backstage getting ready for his match against Drew Gulak as Akira Tozawa came in and told Kalisto to have a happy birthday. Akira Tozawa then started to do the chants from Kalisto looked happy.

It looks like Akira Tozawa got the support of Kalisto here in case Enzo Amore gets involved with Kalisto’s match. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next. Good backstage segment here.

Kalisto Vs. Drew Gulak was a good match. Enzo Amore did his usual shtick for his entrance as he came with Drew Gulak as he cut a promo on how it’s Kalisto’s birthday as he’s throwing a party for his birthday. Enzo Amore then said he got balloons and cake, but he hasn’t gotten Kalisto one thing where Drew Gulak said it was a present. Enzo Amore then said that the present he will give to Kalisto is a beatdown from Drew Gulak as Drew Gulak said how are you doing.

Enzo Amore then told Drew Gulak to never do his catchphrase ever again as he began to talk about he has cake and it will be perfect for Kalisto the moment he loses at Survivor Series. Before Enzo Amore could continue, he was interrupted by Kalisto as the match between Kalisto and Drew Gulak began. Enzo Amore is always entertaining on the mic and the dynamic between him and Drew Gulak is fun to watch. Anyway, back to the match itself.

The way that Drew Gulak was trying to put down Kalisto at every point in the match got him good heel heat as even Enzo Amore got involved in the match by slamming Kalisto down on the ring apron which looked painful by looking at Kalisto’s back. Ouch. Despite that, Kalisto fought back with everything he had as he delivered a nice hurricanrana driver and a suicide dive on Drew Gulak. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Drew Gulak tried to lock Kalisto in with a dragon sleeper with bodyscissors, but Kalisto countered it with a Salida del Sol (Standing sitout shiranui) on Drew Gulak for the pin and win. A good win for Kalisto as he’s getting momentum heading into Survivor Series.

After the match, Enzo Amore attacked Kalisto from behind and beat him down. Enzo Amore and Drew Gulak were about to put Kalisto through the cake, but Kalisto fought back by hitting a dropkick on Enzo Amore and enzuiguri on Drew Gulak. Kalisto was then about to put Enzo Amore through the cake, but Drew Gulak prevented that from happening. Drew Gulak was about to hit Kalisto with a powerbomb on top of the cake, but Kalisto fought back by hitting a spinning wheel kick on Drew Gulak and another enzuiguri on Enzo Amore.

Enzo Amore then ran away from Kalisto as Kalisto chased after him. Kalisto is far from done with Enzo Amore and he wants more of him. I wonder if he got Enzo Amore backstage. Let’s talk about that next.

Good match and good post-match as let’s see if Kalisto got Enzo Amore backstage.

The backstage segment between Enzo Amore and Kalisto by Dasha Fuentes was good. Enzo Amore ran away backstage as he was interviewed by Dasha Fuentes as he said that the cake is safe. He then licked the frosting of the cake once again and was about to eat the decoration until Kalisto threw Enzo Amore on the cake as threw the cake on Enzo Amore before leaving.

Well, Kalisto got some revenge on Enzo Amore by throwing cake at him, but we’ll see if he will get the WWE Cruiserweight Championship back from Enzo Amore at Survivor Series. Good backstage segment here.

Overall, good show for the fifty-first episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
