205 Live 11/28/17 Review: Team PowerPoint!

on

205 Live on November 28, 2017, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package highlighting on what happened on Monday Night Raw when Rich Swann defeated Akira Tozawa, Ariya Daivari, and Noam Dar to become one step closer to becoming WWE Cruiserweight Champion. This is good as it showed what happened on Monday Night Raw as the next challenger for Enzo Amore’s championship is coming. Well produced video package here.

Rich Swann Vs. Noam Dar was a good match. We got a recap of what happened last week when Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander defeated Noam Dar and Ariya Daivari where Enzo Amore attacked them after the match where The Zo Train stood tall. Enzo Amore accompanied Noam Dar to the ring as he cut a promo by saying that he has given an opportunity to the cruiserweight division to get a shot at his championship and Noam Dar had failed him on Monday Night Raw so he told him that this is his chance to redeem himself as there’s only one word to describe Rich Swann and that is S-A-W-F-T, SAWFT!

As Rich Swann was making his entrance, we got a WWE.com exclusive backstage interview where Mike Rome was interviewing Rich Swann about his victory as Rich Swann said it has been a year since he last won the cruiserweight championship and he’s looking to become a 2x WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Nice to see some promo work from these guys even though Enzo Amore did the talking for Noam Dar here. Anyway, let’s talk about the match itself.

Noam Dar got some nice offense on Rich Swann by working on his leg which is good in-ring psychology. Rich Swann got some nice offense on Noam Dar especially with that spin kick on Noam Dar which knocked out Noam Dar for a moment there. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Rich Swann hit a corkscrew 450 splash on Noam Dar for the pin and win. A good win for Rich Swann, but for Noam Dar, he got yelled at by Enzo Amore after the match so he better start winning matches if he wants to stay on The Zo Train. Can you handle this?!

Good match and we’ll see how Noam Dar will make it up to Enzo Amore for his string of losses as of late.

The backstage interview with Kalisto by Dasha Fuentes was good. Kalisto talked about how his loss against Enzo Amore at Survivor Series devastated him, but he’s looking to get back in the WWE Cruiserweight Championship picture by trying to get a win over Gentleman Jack Gallagher as he left.

Kalisto is looking to get back into the WWE Cruiserweight Championship picture and he’s looking to do that against Gentleman Jack Gallagher. Let’s see if he can do it. Good backstage interview here.

Kalisto Vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher was a good match for what it was. With Kalisto trying to get back into the WWE Cruiserweight Championship picture, he had to go through Gentleman Jack Gallagher and the match was a good match until what happened at the end.

The way Gentleman Jack Gallagher threw Kalisto off the top rope looked like it hurt Kalisto’s neck. Kalisto hit a devastating hurricanrana driver on Gentleman Jack Gallagher. Good work from both men here.

As Kalisto was about to pin Gentleman Jack Gallagher after hitting the Salida del Sol (Standing sitout shiranui), The Brian Kendrick came in the ring and attacked Kalisto leading to the disqualification. A shame that the match ended the way it did, but I think this was set up the next feud. However, they could have done that after the match, but it kind of protected Gentleman Jack Gallagher in a way so I guess the decision was alright.

After the match, The Brian Kendrick continued to beat down Kalisto as he took off his jacket and wrapped it around Kalisto’s neck. The Brian Kendrick then held Kalisto up for Gentleman Jack Gallagher to hit a headbutt on Kalisto as they stood tall in the end.

It seems like we’ll get a feud between Kalisto, The Brian Kendrick, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher from here. I wonder if Kalisto will find a tag team partner to deal with those two. Maybe Gran Metalik or Lince Dorado? I guess we’ll find out in the weeks to come.

Good match for what it was and good post-match as I want to see how Kalisto will fight back against The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

We then get a vignette of Hideo Itami as he’s coming to 205 Live soon. Can’t wait for the debut of Hideo Itami in the cruiserweight division and we’ll see how he do once he’s there.

The backstage segment between Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, and Mustafa Ali was good. Rich Swann told Cedric Alexander that he fears Hideo Itami coming to the cruiserweight division as he might feel those strikes hard. Cedric Alexander then told Rich Swann that he shouldn’t be worried about Hideo Itami as he should be more worried about him as he’s looking to face him to become the #1 Contender to the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Mustafa Ali then stepped in and told Cedric Alexander that he’s forgetting about someone and that is him as he looks to become the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Cedric Alexander then told Mustafa Ali that he’ll find out next week as Mustafa Ali told Cedric Alexander to focus on taking out The Zo Train as both men shook hands.

There might be a little dissension between Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali as they’re looking to become the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but only one can do it. It seems like they’re intact for now, but we’ll see in their tag team match. Good backstage segment here.

Cedric Alexander & Mustafa Ali Vs. Team PowerPoint was an excellent tag team match. Mark out moment! After Drew Gulak made his entrance, he cut a promo by saying that Enzo Amore called him and Tony Nese, Team PowerPoint because Tony Nese has all the power while he likes to make the points. Team PowerPoint then entered the ring as Drew Gulak compared Team PowerPoint to the Justice League as Tony Nese is the Aquaman to his Batman as they follow their actions to their Superman, Enzo Amore. He then prepared for his next PowerPoint Presentation before getting interrupted Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali as they made their entrance to the ring.

God dang it, Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali, you interrupted a special edition of Drew Gulak’s PowerPoint Presentation! Dang you two! However, the tag team name of Drew Gulak and Tony Nese is interesting with Team PowerPoint is interesting, but at least they got a tag team name so that’s something. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Cedric Alexander & Mustafa Ali did excellent in this match as they had nice chemistry as a tag team in this match. Mustafa Ali with his rolling through the middle ropes into a sitout facebuster was very innovative. The electric chair/diving crossbody combination on Tony Nese was a nice tag team maneuver. Excellent work from Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali here.

Team PowerPoint did excellent as well as they tried to get a victory for The Zo Train. The way they tried to isolate Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali as well as made them argue with each other showed great heel work from them as they took advantage of the situation. The way Drew Gulak was working on Cedric Alexander with the powerbomb and the single leg Boston crab with a chinlock looked painful. Excellent work from Team PowerPoint here.

The ending of the match came when Tony Nese pushed Mustafa Ali into Cedric Alexander as he rolled up Mustafa Ali with a schoolboy for the pin and win for his team. Team PowerPoint got the better of Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali here as they got the win.

After the match, Team PowerPoint headed up the ramp as they began to celebrate with Enzo Amore as he raised their hands while Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali were arguing with each other in the ring for their loss.

Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali didn’t get on the same page against Team PowerPoint as it’s every man for himself in the #1 Contender Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship next week on Monday Night Raw. Let’s see who will Rich Swann in that #1 Contender’s match.

Excellent tag team match and I can’t wait to see the fatal four-way match on Monday Night Raw to determine who will face Rich Swann for the #1 Contendership for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Overall, good show for the fifty-third episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
