NXT on November 29, 2017, was a great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:
Before I talk about the show itself, the show took place at the Aztec Theatre in San Antonio, Texas and the crowd was generally good in this show. Would love to see NXT do more TV tapings in different arenas and cities down the road more often.
We start off the show with Street Profits Vs. God-Gifted Athletes was a great tag team match. After these two teams been feuding with each other for the past month, they faced each other once again, but this time in San Antonio, Texas.
God-Gifted Athletes tried to get revenge on Street Profits for beating them two weeks ago and they did great in this match. The back crossbody from Tino Sabbatelli on Montez Ford was well executed. The forearm smash that Riddick Moss did to Angelo Dawkins looked like it knocked out Angelo Dawkins for a moment there. Street Profits did great in this match as they showed some great tag team chemistry with that belly-to-back suplex from Angelo Dawkins on Montez Ford, but Montez Ford turned that into a standing moonsault on Tino Sabbatelli. The cannonball senton from Montez Ford onto Riddick Moss to the outside was well executed. Great work from both teams here.
The ending of the match came when Angelo Dawkins hit Tino Sabbatelli with a pop-up spinebuster while Montez Ford hit a frog splash on Tino Sabbatelli for the pin and win. Another win for Street Profits as they’re still undefeated as a tag team in NXT.
Great tag team match and I’m interested to see if the feud between Street Profits and God-Gifted Athletes will continue or not.
The backstage segment between Pete Dunne and Moustache Mountain last week was good. Pete Dunne was walking backstage until Moustache Mountain talked with Pete Dunne as Tyler Bate told Pete Dunne that he wasn’t making the UK proud when he left Wolfgang to get beaten up by Undisputed Era a few months back. He then challenged Pete Dunne to a tag team match if Pete Dunne has anyone as Pete Dunne left.
Good luck with Pete Dunne trying to find a tag team partner as he’s not well liked by anyone in the UK roster. We’ll see if he actually got a partner or not. Good backstage segment here.
The backstage interview with Moustache Mountain by Christy St. Cloud was good. Trent Seven talked about how he didn’t like when Pete Dunne walked out on Wolfgang which he had a chance to save him, but didn’t. Tyler Bate then said that they will teach Pete Dunne a lesson and they’re a real tag team as they are Moustache Mountain.
Moustache Mountain is looking very confident in their tag team match later on the show, but let’s see if they can get the victory. Good backstage interview here.
The backstage interview with Mark Andrews is good. Mark Andrews talked about how he’s not looking to become Pete Dunne’s friend in the tag team match as he’s only teaming up with him in order to get a WWE United Kingdom Championship match if his team wins.
Well, I guess it makes sense on why Mark Andrews is willing to team up with Pete Dunne in the tag team match, but I don’t know if Mark Andrews is going to work well with Pete Dunne, but we’ll see later on the show. Good backstage interview here.
We then get a vignette of Lars Sullivan and it was good. NXT is really behind Lars Sullivan and he has been a freak of nature as of late and I expect him to continue that reign as time goes by.
Kairi Sane Vs. Peyton Royce was a great women’s match. These two women are looking to get back on track in the NXT Women’s Championship picture and these two women put up a great match to prove their worth.
Peyton Royce got some nice offense in this match as she tried to get back into the NXT Women’s Championship picture. Her spinning heel kick on Kairi Sane was well executed. Her running knee to the face of Kairi Sane looked like it hurt. Kairi Sane did great in this match as well as she is also looking to get back into the NXT Women’s Championship picture. Her spear and sliding forearm smash to the corner on Peyton Royce were well executed. Great work from both women here.
The ending of the match came when Kairi Sane hit a diving elbow drop on Peyton Royce for the pin and win. A good win for Kairi Sane as she’s looking to become the next #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Great women’s match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Kairi Sane and The Iconic Duo in NXT.
We then get a recap of what happened last week when Ruby Riott defeated Sonya Deville and it was announced that next week, it will be Ruby Riott Vs. Sonya Deville in a No Holds Barred match.
Interesting to see that Ruby Riott and Sonya Deville will compete in NXT for a little while longer before being on the main roster full-time. Can’t wait to see these two go at it. Should be very physical.
We then get a recap of what happened at NXT War Games when Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Drew McIntyre to become the new NXT Champion as Drew McIntyre was getting checked by medics backstage as it was announced on Twitter by Drew McIntyre himself that he will be out of action until 2018 due to his injury. In addition, it was announced that next week, Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega will be having an NXT Championship celebration.
It’s such a shame that Drew McIntyre is going to be out for a while due to his injury. I wish Drew McIntyre a speedy recovery while I’m interested to see how the NXT Championship celebration with Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega will turn out.
Moustache Mountain Vs. Pete Dunne & Mark Andrews was an excellent tag team match. Mark out moment! After what happened last week when Moustache Mountain challenged Pete Dunne to a tag team match, Pete Dunne has Mark Andrews as his tag team partner and we got this tag team match and it was awesome.
Pete Dunne & Mark Andrews were excellent in this match as they worked surprising well despite not liking each other. The double knee backbreaker/double knee drop combination on Trent Seven was very innovative. The springboard moonsault from Mark Andrews on Tyler Bate was beautifully executed.
Moustache Mountain did excellent in this match as well as they tried to teach Pete Dunne a lesson after what he did to Wolfgang a few months back. The front fireman’s carry slam by Trent Seven followed by the assisted senton bomb from Tyler Bate on Mark Andrews was beautifully done. The belly-to-back suplex/powerbomb into a jackknife pin combination on Pete Dunne was executed perfectly. The rebound clothesline on Pete Dunne from Tyler Bate looked devastating.
There was a certain spot in the match where I thought it was over when Mark Andrews hit a Frankensteiner on Tyler Bate where Pete Dunne caught Tyler Bate and hit a sitout powerbomb on Tyler Bate, but Tyler Bate managed to kick out. Wow, despite Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne not being a tag team, they showed great tag team chemistry in that ring, especially with the tag team moves. Excellent performances from both teams here.
The ending of the match came when Tyler Bate hit the Tyler Driver 97′ (Sitout double underhook powerbomb) on Pete Dunne for the pin and win. A great win for Moustache Mountain and Tyler Bate got a pin over the WWE United Kingdom Champion so I expect Tyler Bate to get a future championship match against Pete Dunne down the line.
After the match, Mark Andrews went to check on Pete Dunne to see if Pete Dunne was okay as he backed him off. The moment Mark Andrews had his back turned, Pete Dunne hit a forearm smash on the back of Mark Andrews’ head followed by a Bitter End (Pumphandle lift into a reverse STO) as he stood tall over Mark Andrews.
As expected, Pete Dunne only cares about one person and that is himself. Not only I expect a match between Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate down the line, but I also expect a match between Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews down the line as well. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Bruiserweight!
Excellent tag team match and hope to see more of the WWE UK talent in NXT.
Overall, great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we will get Ruby Riott Vs. Sonya Deville in a No Holds Barred match and an NXT Championship Celebration with Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
