Kurt Angle Says “I’m Coming Back To WWE, But I Don’t Know When”

Former WWE/TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle was interviewed by Mark Madden on his podcast on Monday morning.

Madden didn’t waste any time and asked Angle if he was going back to WWE. Angle said, “I did talk to Triple H about 6 weeks ago. It was a good conversation. We’re on good spirits and we’re on good terms. Will I return? Yes. I don’t know when. They have not contacted me about the brand split. I’m not expecting anything so if they do contact me [then] great. If they don’t [then] that’s fine as well. As far as bringing me back, I don’t know when. I don’t think it’s going to be during the brand split…at least they haven’t called me yet. So, we’ll see here in the future. There are a lot of rumors going around but I will put that to rest by telling you that nobody has contacted me about coming back for the brand split.”

Madden asked Angle if he wanted to finish his career in WWE even if it’s just for a short run or one more match. Angle said, “that’s what we talked about. Vince and Triple H were great. We had a great talk. What they want to do and what they told me was that they were trying to push the younger guys to make bigger names. They weren’t necessarily looking for the older guys and then all of a sudden the brand split occurred so now – I don’t know if they’re really in a position where they need the older talent. I’m not a person that can make that comment.” Madden suggested that WWE should bring him in for a 2 or 3 month run on Smackdown just to get more eyes on the show. Angle agreed and said that he thinks that they will do that but 6-7 weeks ago the talk wasn’t about the brand split. Angle says that he can still go in the ring and he doesn’t know about the Goldberg rumors but he knows that Goldberg is in great shape.

Angle said that he’s only wrestling on a few shows since leaving TNA. He noted that he wrestled on a show with Rey Mysterio, Zack Sabre, Jr. and he’s going to wrestle Cody Rhodes in August and he has a match with Joe Coffey later this year.

Angle said that he would like to go back to WWE for 1 to 2 years and retire and he would love to manage someone like Chad Gable or Jason Jordan. He also noted that he feels much better now and he was addicted to painkillers during his WWE run and the TNA schedule helped him and he was going to take last year off but he stayed with them out of respect to them. He said that he is incorporating DDP Yoga into his workout and it’s made a huge difference for him.

Angle will be at PNC Park on Wednesday for their Legends Of Wrestling event. Click here for ticket information.
