According to the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter, the situation with Moose and WWE has changed. WWE backed off on signing him because of a May 2009 domestic violence incident while he was still in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons suspended him for one game after learning about a simple battery charge after his wife confronted him over contact with a female friend on Facebook. He was alleged to have tossed her down a flight of stairs and throwing her out of the house. Ojinnaka told police that she tried to stab him with a pen.
In 2010, he was traded to the New England Patriots. When asked if he would appeal the suspension, he said, “I haven’t really thought about the suspension. It is what it is. I got suspended and I’m just moving on from that now.” The reports around that time stated that no one was hurt. His wife divorced him in 2012 after he announced that he would be leaving the NFL to pursue a career in professional wrestling.
WWE told him not to worry and they are holding off right now because it’s just a timing situation. As noted before, given the recent situations with Adam Rose and Jerry Lawler, WWE is not as quick to sign names that could bring even the slightest bit of controversy with them. He was expected to be part of the September NXT class but he has received offers from Lucha Underground and TNA. TNA actually offered more money than any other company and the door is still open for Moose to stay in ROH.
Those in ROH are going under the assumption that his status could go either way. Meaning that he could stay with them or leave to wrestle elsewhere. The impression being given is that he’s likely headed elsewhere soon so that would rule out WWE. At the ROH PPV, things were booked with the assumption that he was done with the company.
