WWE is hyping the following points for tonight’s Smackdown Live show:

  • Who will Bryan send to Survivor Series to represent SmackDown LIVE?
  • Will Dean Ambrose decide to annihilate James Ellsworth?
  • Has Randy Orton joined The Wyatt Family?
  • Will we finally see the SmackDown LIVE debut of … Curt Hawkins?

— The Headbangers are also set to appear, as previously reported and the dark match for the evening will be AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose.

The November 1st episode of WWE SmackDown aired live on the USA Network from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

– SmackDown opens up with Dean Ambrose calling out James Ellsworth to the ring. Ambrose gets in Ellsworth’s face and Ellsworth apologizes profusely for costing Ambrose his match last week. AJ Styles interrupts quickly and tells Ellsworth that Ambrose is just using him, and AJ says that he respects Ellsworth more than Ambrose does. Ambrose says the reason he likes Ellsworth is because he doesn’t take the cheap, easy way out like AJ does. Ellsworth tries to stop Styles and Ambrose from fighting, but AJ pushes Ellsworth out of the way and drops Ambrose with a kick to the head. AJ throws Ellsworth out of the ring, then hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Ambrose in the ring. AJ picks up his World Title belt and heads to the back.

– Mauro introduces a video package highlighting the history between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, with Orton turning on Kane last week. Orton vs. Kane in a No Disqualification Match is up next.

– Dean Ambrose is yelling at James Ellsworth backstage until Daniel Bryan walks on screen and tells them to calm down. Bryan gives Ambrose a rematch against AJ Styles tonight, and orders Ellsworth to stay backstage during the match and stop getting involved.

Randy Orton def. Kane: This one will be a No DQ match. Orton and Kane roll outside as soon as the bell rings and being brawling around ringside. Kane smashes Orton in the back with a steel chair then throws him back in the ring. Kane sets up for a chokeslam, but the lights go out and The Wyatts interfere. Kane is able to fight them off, but the distraction allows for Orton to hit an RKO for the win. After the match, Luke Harper hits a spinning lariat on Kane. Harper and Orton push Kane into Wyatt and Wyatt hits the Sister Abigail. Orton, Wyatt and Harper celebrate in the ring as Kane lays motionless.

Alexa Bliss & Carmella def. Becky Lynch & Nikki Bella: After some back and forth action with Nikki and Alexa in the opening minutes, Becky and Carmella tag in and Becky hits a t-bone suplex and pins. Alexa runs in and breaks the pin, then drags Carmella to the corner and tags herself in. Becky hits another suplex on Alexa and pins, but Carmella distracts the referee. Becky gets up and grabs the referee, but turns around right into a DDT from Alexa for the win. After the match, Alexa and Carmella talk trash about the women of RAW.

– Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are talking in the back about who should be the leader of their women’s team at Survivor Series. Daniel wants Becky Lynch to lead the team, but Natalya walks on and volunteers. Shane seems to think it’s a good idea for Natalya to lead the team, and he convinces Daniel Bryan. Bryan makes it official that Natalya will be the coach for the women at Survivor Series.

American Alpha def. The Spirit Squad: The Spirit Squad gets some offense in on Gable in the opening minutes, but Jordan quickly gets the hot tag and cleans house. He hits a series of suplexes, but then misses a spear on Kenny in the corner and hits the ring post. Gable and Mikey tag in and Gable throws Kenny outside. Gable and Jordan hit the Grand Amplitude for the win after a short match.

– The Miz and Maryse bring out Daniel Bryan to talk about Survivor Series on Miz TV. Daniel Bryan starts off by joking that he might cancel Miz TV which gets a big pop from the crowd. The Miz wants to know who will be on the men’s Survivor Series team. Bryan announces that the team will consist of Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, and AJ Styles. The Miz gets upset that not only is he not the team captain, but he didn’t even make the team. Bryan says they considered The Miz, but they need wrestlers who are “willing to fight” on the team. The Miz tells Bryan he is going to lead Team SmackDown to a loss, and that Bryan is the one who’s scared to fight. Miz tells him to go back to doing what he does best, “moping around John Cena’s house on Total Bellas.” Daniel Bryan throws a chair and The Miz and Maryse leave the ring. Bryan tells Miz to sit at the announce table and watch while Dolph Ziggler defends his Intercontinental Title in an open challenge, and that’s up next.

Dolph Ziggler (c) def. Curt Hawkins: Hawkins accepts the open challenge, and cuts a promo saying he’s going to take the IC Title tonight. As soon as the bell rings, Ziggler hits a superkick for the win in a very short one-move match.

– After the match, Ziggler cuts a promo about being the IC Champion and The Miz being scared to take his challenge last week. Ziggler issues another open challenge, this time to the stars of Monday Night RAW at Survivor Series. The Miz starts freaking out at ringside.

– Dean Ambrose cuts a promo backstage saying tonight he’s going to be beat AJ Styles because there will be no distractions or excuses. Ambrose gets distracted when he notices James Ellsworth looking at him from the corner. Ellsworth asks Ambrose if there’s any way he ca come to ringside tonight, but Ambrose tells him to take a hike and go eat some Halloween candy.

– Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Randy Orton are in a dimly lit room. Wyatt says that Harper is hesitant about letting Orton in the Wyatt Family because he’s a snake. Orton says he was born with the devil whispering in his ear, and says that Bray Wyatt is a god. Some yellow graphics flash in Orton’s eyes.

The Usos def. The Headbangers: After some quick back-and-forth action for about a minute, Jimmy Uso rolls up Mosh from behind for the win after a very short match.

– AJ Styles is backstage getting ready for his match when an interviewer approaches him and asks him for his opinion on his upcoming rematch against Dean Ambrose. AJ Styles makes fun of the interviewer and says he’s going to beat Ambrose tonight now that Ellsworth has been sent back to the “bargain bin he came from.”

– Dean Ambrose is shown walking with James Ellsworth backstage. Ambrose tells Ellsworth that he’ll keep in touch, then pushes Ellsworth out an exit-only door and tells him to call a cab.

AJ Styles vs. Dean Ambrose: Ambrose knocks AJ out to ringside as soon as the bell rings and follows up with a suicide dive through the ropes. Ambrose takes AJ back in the ring and gets him in a Texas Cloverleaf, but AJ reaches the ropes. Ambrose takes AJ up to the to rope and hits a double underhook superplex for a two count. AJ is able to get Ambrose in a Calf Crusher out of nowhere, but Ambrose grabs the ropes th break the hold. The action goes outside and Ambrose crotches AJ on the fan barricade then clotheslines him off. Back in the ring Ambrose goes for a blockbuster off the middle rope, but AJ ducks and Ambroses crashes on the mat. Ambrose is now selling his knee. Ambrose comes back with a dropkick and a clothesline, but AJ shuts him down with a vertical suplex into the turnbuckle. AJ hits a series of strikes and goes for the Styles Clash, but Ambrose gets out and they take each other down with a double clothesline. The crowd starts a Goldberg-style “Ellsworth” chant, and then we see Ellsworth run in from the crowd to cheer on Ambrose from ringside. Ambrose gets distracted by Ellsworth, and AJ hits Ambrose with a Pele kick. Security comes out and chases Ellsworth through the crowd out of the arena. AJ goes for his patented springboard moonsault inverted DDT, but Ambrose gets out. AJ manages to get Ambrose in the Calf Crusher, but Ambrose reaches the ropes to break it. Security chases Ellsworth right back to ringside, where Ellsworth distracts AJ. Security is hauling Ellsworth away, but AJ rolls out of the ring to shove Ellsworth over the announce table. AJ gets back on the apron and goes for a Phenomenal Forearm, but Ambrose dodges it and hits the Dirty Deeds for the win. Ellsworth has a smile on his face as security drags him up the ramp and Ambrose looks on in surprise. Ambrose gives Ellsworth a hug, then lets security continue dragging him to the back as SmackDown goes off the air.
