FCW Sunshine: Tamina

Topic/Subject: Today, I will be showing a match that involves a Polynesian goddess.

Wrestler: “The Polynesian Goddess” Tamina.

Background Information: Tamina is billed from the Pacific Islands. She first began in wrestling after she received the first Lia Maivia Scholarship to train in professional wrestling career at the Wild Samoan Training Center.

On May 24, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she debuted as a heel under the ring name Tamina along with Jimmy and Jey Uso by attacking the Unified Tag Team Champions, The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd, David Hart Smith, and Natalya).

On May 31, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she and The Usos introduced themselves and stated that The Hart Dynasty was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and brawled and again laid out The Hart Dynasty.

On June 7, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she and The Usos again attempted to attack The Hart Dynasty, but was unsuccessful with The Hart Dynasty getting the upper hand.

She and The Usos made their pay-per-view debut in a six-person mixed tag team match against The Hart Dynasty in a losing effort after Natalya pinned her.

Two weeks later on June 21, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she made her debut for the brand facing off with Natalya, but ended in a no contest after The Nexus interrupted the match.

On July 12, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she and The Usos won their first match by defeating The Hart Dynasty in a six-person mixed tag team match.

On August 2, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she competed in a six diva tag team match with then Divas Champion Alicia Fox and Jillian Hall against Natalya, Eve Torres, and Gail Kim in a winning effort when Fox pinned Natalya.

On August 9, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she made an appearance after the diva summer spectacular flirting with Santino Marella, hinting a face turn.

She accompanied The Usos in a tag team match against Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov in a losing effort, but then she stop the Uso’s from attacking Santino and blew a kiss to Santino as she left the ring.

On November 29, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she teamed with Alicia Fox and Maryse in a six diva tag team match against Natalya, Gail Kim, and Melina, but was distracted by Santino Marella serenating her, and she left the ring with Santino, turning face in the process.

On December 6, 2010, on an edition of Raw, she began an on-screen relationship with Santino Marella, beginning by accompaning him and his partner Vladimir Kozlov in a three elimination tag team match against the teams of The Nexus (Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater) and The Usos in a winning effort, as she walked in the ring and kissed Santino, officially becoming the valet of the team.

After being drafted to the SmackDown Brand as part of the 2011 Supplemental Draft, she debuted as a heel on May 27, 2011, on an episode of SmackDown by defeating The Chickbusters (Kaitlyn and the debuting A.J.) with Alicia Fox.

On October 26, 2011, on an edition of NXT Redemption, she began a feud with Kaitlyn and competed against her in a singles match, but was unsuccessful.

On December 30, 2011, on an edition of SmackDown, she turned face by attacking her partner Natalya following their tag team match against Alicia Fox and Kaitlyn conflicting about their respective families.

On April 25, 2012, on an episode of NXT Redemption, she teamed with Kaitlyn in a winning effort against Maxine and Natalya.

During a segment between Vickie Guerrero and AJ Lee at Survivor Series, she returned from injury and attacked AJ, turning into a heel again in the process. She made her in-ring return on November 26, 2012, on an episode of Raw defeating former ally Alicia Fox.

On September 27, 2013, on an edition of SmackDown, accompanying former rival AJ Lee to her match against Cameron, one of The Funkadactyls.

On November 18, 2013, on an episode of Raw, she and AJ with other 5 Divas were announced to fight together in Survivor Series in a seven-on-seven traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match against the Total Divas.

On April 15, 2014, on an edition of Main Event, she won a Divas Battle Royal to become the #1 Contender for Paige’s Divas Championship, but failed to win at Extreme Rules 2014.

She returned on May 4, 2015, on an episode of Raw, attacking the Bella Twins from behind with Naomi.

She still competes in the WWE to this day.

With her being the daughter of Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, she is looking to make a name for herself on her own.

My Thoughts: Tamina is an interesting individual. She has an interesting look, she has a presence about her in and out of the ring, she has a solid character, solid charisma, and she’s pretty solid in the ring. Superfly!

Video: This video contains a match between Tamina and AJ Lee on May 16, 2010.

My Thoughts: This was a good women’s match for the time it has gotten as Tamina was making a name for herself in FCW.

While Tamina was making her entrance, we see a video promo from her as she said that she’s a Polynesian Goddess and that will make her the first FCW Divas Champion because that’s already an explanation. Not the best promo ever, but she managed to get her point across so it was all good.

The match between her and AJ Lee was relatively good as Tamina hit an impressive Samoan Drop on AJ Lee as that move looked devastating. Even though she lost, she looked good in defeat and I really wanted to see more of this match after what Tamina did to AJ Lee to this match. Despite that, a good women’s match, but I really wanted to see more.

Good women’s match that could have gone longer, but from what was seen, Tamina made an impression here.

Even though I don’t really see Tamina being a top woman in the WWE women’s division, I could see her being a force in the women’s division as that monster/powerhouse woman in the women’s division just like Nia Jax is doing right now.

However, with her having injuries as of late and not being used, I doubt it will happen. Plus, her father just passed away which must have been hard for her so I don’t know if we’ll see her in the WWE ever again.

Regardless, whatever she does next, I wish her the best on what she does next as she’s probably going through a tough time in life right now. Superfly!

After watching the video, give me your thoughts on the video or the wrestler herself. Thank you.
