WWE Files Trademark For Cruiserweight Classic Star

WWE has registered trademarks for Gran Metalik. The trademarks are for performance and merchandise. Metalik is a competitor in the Cruiserweight Classic.

Just the fact that he’s using the name Gran Metalik in the tournament and not Mascara Dorada indicated to us that WWE was looking to sign him but the trademark filing unofficially confirms it.

Long-time fans of Metalik would probably know him from his work in CMLL. He’s been wrestling there since 2005. He’s a 4-time CMLL World Welterweight Champion and he also had a run in New Japan Pro Wrestling. His run in NJPW ended earlier this year.

The word on Metalik is that they want him for the Cruiserweight division on Monday Night Raw.

Cedric Alexander and Kota Ibushi are other rumored names that WWE is interested in signing full-time.
