205 Live 10/31/18 Review: Heart Overcomes Pain

205 Live on October 31, 2018, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package of Drake Maverick giving highlights to Mustafa Ali Vs. Hideo Itami in a Falls Count Anywhere match last week in addition to hyping up The Brian Kendrick Vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Mustafa Ali Vs. Tony Nese in a #1 Contender’s match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. This is good as it showed what happened last week as well as hyping up the matches for this show. Well produced video package here.

The Brian Kendrick Vs. Gentleman Jack Gallagher was a good match. As Gentleman Jack Gallagher was making his entrance to the ring, we see a recap of what happened three weeks ago when The Brian Kendrick was turned on by Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak. This is good as it shows why this match is happening in the first place. Drew Gulak was on commentary for this match.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher did well in this match as he tried to take down The Brian Kendrick. The way he pushed The Brian Kendrick to the ring apron looked painful as heck. The Brian Kendrick did well in this match too as he tried to get revenge for what Gentleman Jack Gallagher did to him three weeks ago. His superkick on Gentleman Jack Gallagher looked devastating. Good work by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Drew Gulak was to attack The Brian Kendrick from ringside, but Akira Tozawa came out and took out Drew Gulak with a jumping corkscrew roundhouse kick which led to The Brian Kendrick hitting a shiranui on Gentleman Jack Gallagher for the pin and win. A good win for The Brian Kendrick as he got some revenge over Gentleman Jack Gallagher and Drew Gulak. He’s the man with a plan!

Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next in this feud between Akira Tozawa, The Brian Kendrick, Drew Gulak, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher.

The backstage segment between Drake Maverick and Cedric Alexander was good. Drake Maverick told Cedric Alexander that he would give him an explanation on why he didn’t get a rematch for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship as Cedric Alexander said that he’s right as he’s the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and should get his rematch. Drake Maverick then told Cedric Alexander that he has been on a losing streak as of late and because of that, he felt that it would be unfair that he gets his rematch over the rest of the cruiserweight division for losing a lot as of late. Cedric Alexander then said that he understands and that when he is back on track, he wants his rematch. He then shook hands with Drake Maverick and left.

Cedric Alexander is looking to get back on his winning ways after losing the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. We’ll see how Cedric Alexander will bounce back. Good backstage segment here.

Gran Metalik Vs. Tyson Dean was a good squash match. As Gran Metalik made his entrance to the ring with Lucha House Party, we see a video promo from Gran Metalik saying that TJP is a coward and that he has disrespected Lucha House Party without facing him face-to-face. He then said that he wants to challenge him one on one. Gran Metalik wants his hands on TJP which is bound to happen sooner rather than later.

Tyson Dean didn’t get any offense in this match as Gran Metalik finished Tyson Dean off with the springboard elbow drop for the pin and win. A good win for Gran Metalik as he was sending a message to TJP.

After the match, Lucha House Party was about to join Gran Metalik in celebration, but TJP came into the ring and took off the mask of Gran Metalik as he ran through the crowd as Lucha House Party came in to cover Gran Metalik’s face as they watched on.

Once again, the disrespect from TJP continues on Lucha House Party as he now unmasked all of the members of Lucha House Party. It’s only a matter of time when Lucha House Party will get their revenge on TJP.

Good squash match and good post-match as I’m interested to see how Gran Metalik will react to TJP stealing his mask from him.

The backstage segment with Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese by Kayla Braxton was good. Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese were walking backstage until Kayla Braxton came in and asked Buddy Murphy about his meeting with Drake Maverick as Tony Nese left where Buddy Murphy said that they’ll be in the UK next week so he’s going to face NXT UK star, Mark Andrews, next week. Buddy Murphy was about to leave until Kayla Braxton asked Buddy Murphy on what if Tony Nese wins the match as Buddy Murphy said it’s none of her business as he walked away.

So, we’re going to have Mark Andrews Vs. Buddy Murphy next week. Should be a great match and I’m looking forward to it. Good backstage segment here.

The backstage segment with Mike & Maria Kanellis, and TJP by Dasha Fuentes was good. Maria Kanellis told Dasha Fuentes to shoot after she talked about Mike Kanellis’ tactics. Maria Kanellis then asked Mike Kanellis on how it feels to be the best cruiserweight in the world as Mike Kanellis was about to answer until TJP came in and asked Mike & Maria Kanellis for help. Maria Kanellis then told TJP that they’re willing to help as they do business with each other as they all left with each other.

It looks like TJP is asking Mike & Maria Kanellis to help him against Lucha House Party. We’ll see how that turns out and it will be very interesting to see them against Lucha House Party. Good backstage segment here.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Mark Andrews Vs. Buddy Murphy. Should be a great match next week and I’m looking forward to it.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Tony Nese in a #1 Contender’s match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was excellent. Mark out moment! These two went out there and delivered an excellent match where they will do whatever it takes to become #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Tony Nese did excellent in this match as he wants a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The way he caught Mustafa Ali’s slingshot crossbody into a fallaway slam was impressive. The way he countered Mustafa Ali’s back springboard Tornado DDT into a Northern Lights suplex was impressive. His avalanche fireman’s carry single knee gutbuster looked painful as heck. Excellent work by Tony Nese here.

Mustafa Ali did excellent in this match as well as he also wants a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The way he swept Tony Nese’s leg which made him land back on his head on the turnbuckle looked painful as heck. His roundhouse kick followed by a superkick and another superkick to the back of Tony Nese’s head was an awesome combination. Excellent work by Mustafa Ali here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali rolled up Tony Nese with a jackknife pin for the win. A great win for Mustafa Ali as he defied the odds once again and is now the #1 Contender to the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

After the match, Tony Nese was about to attack Mustafa Ali until Cedric Alexander came out which led to Tony Nese retreating as Cedric Alexander checked on Mustafa Ali. Buddy Murphy then came out and stood on the ramp next to Tony Nese as the four men stare off at each other.

Well, it looks like we got ourselves a future tag team match before the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match which I’m all down for as it should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to it.

Excellent match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to Buddy Murphy Vs. Mustafa Ali for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship down the line.

Overall, a good show for the one-hundred-and-first episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
